Jody Marshall
Festival Workshops, Concert & Focus Workshop

Growing up with a jazz musician father, a mother who loves to sing, and a drummer for an older brother, Jody Marshall absorbed the strains of many different musical styles. She is well known for her lively and expressive style, as well as for her creative arrangements of both solo and ensemble pieces. She is equally adept at playing Celtic jigs and reels, Renaissance and medieval dance tunes, classical music, and other genres. She is also an innovative piano player with a style all her own.

The Washington Post has described Jody's work as "...deftly balancing the artful and the playful...lovely, lively, and shimmering." With her solo recording, Cottage in the Glen, Jody has put together a fine collection of music, including original tunes of light-hearted whimsy, tender poignancy, and irresistible rhythms. She has also released two CDs of holiday music, and is the author of “Carol of the Bells: Seasonal Favorites for Hammered Dulcimer and Other Instruments.”
Jody is a clear and insightful teacher and teaches private lessons, group classes, and festival workshops. She has taught at dulcimer events from coast to coast and internationally. A founding member of the popular D.C.-based folk trios, Ironweed and MoonFire, Jody has been nominated as best folk instrumentalist by the Washington Area Music Association.

Jody's performance credits include the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Folger Shakespeare Library, Smithsonian Institution, Kennedy Center, and the White House.

Bing Futch

Using Appalachian mountain dulcimer, Native American flute, ukulele, drums and electronic effects, Bing Futch deftly navigates the varied musical waters of traditional and modern Americana.

As a touring solo performer he's headlined at such events as The Florida Folk Festival, Old Songs Festival, The Big Muddy, Kentucky Music Weekend and Common Ground On The Hill. Bing has enjoyed a career on both sides of the folk and rock divide, first as guitarist for CCM post-punkers Crazed Bunnyz in 1986 and in 1999 as co-founder of Mohave. That band took off after their debut performance at the House of Blues at Walt Disney World.
In 2006, Bing began performing solo at county fairs and festivals across the country, opening for Grammy-award nominated artists Sam & Ruby, bluesman Scott Ainslie and sharing the stage with Grammy-award nominated act The Dixie Beeliners. He has recorded a number of albums and published several music-education books including the best-selling "Blues Method For Mountain Dulcimer 101." He has taught workshops on playing Delta blues on the mountain dulcimer across the country as well as writing articles in Mel Bay's Dulcimer Sessions and Dulcimer Players News. As a member of the Orange Blossom Blues Society, he participates in the "Blues In The Schools" program in central Florida. In 2014, he won the "Solo Artist" award in the Central Florida Blues Challenge competition, earning entry into the 2015 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN. Taking the mountain dulcimer where it had never gone before, Bing competed in the quarterfinals and advanced to the semifinals.

Bing's music has been featured in film and video productions, video game soundtracks and exhibits at the Orlando Museum of Art. He was composer and musical director for "The Jungle Book: A Musical Adaptation" and also contributed music to the soundtrack of The Castle of Miracles at Give Kids The World Village in Kissimmee, Florida. He can often be found teaching music workshops at festivals and colleges, presenting music education programs at schools and libraries and producing episodes of his video podcast "Dulcimerica" - viewed by over a million people worldwide and is in its 8th season.

In traveling over 19,000 miles a year, Bing's home away from home is a 21 foot long Winnebago Warrior that has been dubbed "Rita." While off the road, he lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife, Jae, and a menagerie of critters.
